ADVERTISEMENT FOR COURSE WRITERS AND CONTENT EDITORS

 

As necessitated by the need for continuous improvement of its programmes and activities in line with the flexible nature of open and distance learning, the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) invites suitably qualified, experienced and adequately skilled academics, managers in industry and highly positioned professionals in the organised private sector to apply as Writers-in-Residence for instructional course material development and editing in the various programmes listed below.

A. WRITERS
Two categories of writers are invited as follows:
i. Writers-in Residence either on Sabbatical Leave or Leave of Absence at NOUN. They will be free to operate from the NOUN Headquarters in Lagos or operate from their immediate area of domicile but must report to NOUN’s Study Centre nearest to them as detailed in the contract of engagement.
ii. Academics, researchers/managers in industry who are currently engaged in their normal duties but can spare the time to develop courses on a pay-as-you-go basis.
For both of these groups, applicants’ current position must not be less than Lecturer 1 or its equivalent and applicants should have at least 10years cognate experience.
Previous training and experience in writing self instructional materials will be an advantage.

B. CONTENT EDITORS

Experienced academics from Associate Professor/Reader and above with not less than 10 years cognate experience in their subject area are required as subject matter Content Editors. Retirees who are able and available for at least one year at a stretch are also encouraged to apply.
Previous editing experience will be an added advantage

INDUCTION
For both Writers and Editors categories, shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a one day induction workshop on course material development in Open and Distance Learning. Successful applicants will in due course receive information about date and venue of the workshop.

Although applicants are encouraged to apply online, those who prefer non-electronic means can submit completed applications through the Study Centres nearest to them.
DEADLINE
Applications must reach The Registrar, NOUN 14/16 Ahmadu Bello Way, PMB 80067, Victoria Island, Lagos within Two weeks of this publication.
REMUNERATION
Remuneration is very attractive.
