NOUN APPOINTS A NEW VICE-CHANCELLOR

A new Vice-Chancellor has been appointed for the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).  He is Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, a Professor of Agronomy and incumbent Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the institution.

Professor Tenebe’s appointment was approved by the Governing Council of NOUN at its Extra-Ordinary Meeting held on Saturday, 3rd July, 2010.

Professor Tenebe, whose appointment takes effect from Friday, 15th October, 2010, will succeed the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, whose tenure expires on Thursday, 14th October, 2010.

Professor Tenebe joined the services of the National Open University of Nigeria in September, 2006.

He has held several administrative appointments including Head of Department, Director of Consultancy Services, Director of Endowment and General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of ATBU Trust and Investment Limited (all at ATBU); Acting General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of NOUN Consult and Investment Limited (NOUNCIL), Director of NOUN, Kaduna Campus, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), all at NOUN.

 

As Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Tenebe has held fort for the Vice-Chancellor on several occasions in the absence of the latter on other national and/or international assignments.

Professor Tenebe is a member of several local and international learned societies among which are the Institute of Cost Management (of which he is a Fellow), Agricultural Society of Nigeria, Farm Management Association of Nigeria, Weed Science Association of Nigeria, Botanical Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Association of Applied Biologists of the United Kingdom, and the African Council for Distance Education.

The Vice-Chancellor-elect hails from Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.  He holds the prestigious Chieftaincy title of “SARKIN KUDU” of Gubi-Bauchi since 2001.

Professor Tenebe is married with children.
