ADVERTISEMENT FOR A CATERING OUTFIT

 

The National Open University of Nigeria wishes to engage a catering outfit to manage its recently commissioned ultra-modern restaurant at its headquarters located at 15/16 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos. The restaurant is to be run both as a fast food outlet and a high level sit-in dinning, mainly for the purpose of providing high quality and affordable meals for staff and the general public.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria vide the noun act of 1983. The mission of the university, as a dedicated single mode open and distance learning institution, is to make education available to as many people as are sufficiently prepared, able and willing to benefit from the various levels of education provided through the distance learning mode.

The NOUN Headquarters is a twelve storey building housing the administration of the university comprising the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, the Principal Officers of the University, and the Schools and Centres through which the academic programmes are delivered. At present, the university currently has a campus in Kaduna, a liaison office in Abuja and 39 (thirty-nine) Study Centres spread across the country. 
  
SPECIFICATIONS
Interested applicants must include the following:

  1. Evidence of a minimum of 5years experience in the catering industry.
  2. Proven skills and expertise in the preparation of African and International dishes as well as confectionery.
  3. Certificate of incorporation, company profile and tax receipt for the last 3years.
  4. Evidence of Financial capabilities.

REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants would also be required to:

  1. Work very closely with the NOUN Restaurant Management Committee.
  2. Provide services to Management and other meetings with top class catering services during special events at very short notice.
  3. Provide catering services to both staff and the general public as and when needed.

CONTRACT CONDITIONS
The University has partly equipped the restaurant, however, the successful applicant will be required to supplement the equipment for maximum efficiency.

Please note that the contract will be on a lease agreement for an initial period of two years renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Interested caterers are free to visit and inspect the restaurant with the permission of either, the Registrar, Director of Procurement or Director Physical Planning and Development before submitting their bids.

Shortlisted applicants should be prepared to make detailed written presentation to the University Management selection team.

The successful applicant must be prepared to begin the provision of services at the University within two weeks of receiving the letter of engagement upon payment to the University of a deposit of ONE MILLION NAIRA (N1,000,000.00) only, which is refundable at the end of contract.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Interested Catering companies are invited to submit detailed application detailing their experiences, maximum number they have catered for at any given moment, the diversity and variety of their menu and include any special culinary experience they can offer the public through the NOUN Restaurant.

Bids must be accompanied by the following:

  1. Three referees attesting to the professional competency, corporate integrity and credibility, and service reliability of the outfit
  2. A one-page statement about public catering in specialised environment for the 21st century and include the number of staff under their employment and an organogram of their outfit.
  3.  A non-refundable fee of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50, 000.00) only, payable in bank draft to National Open University of Nigeria.
