Structure of Information Technology Support Services (ITSS)

Department
The Department engage experts in Information Technology, Engineering, Website Development, Software Development and Knowledge Management experts to support electronic and computer-mediated learning environment of the University. It is responsible for the installation, maintenance and distribution of hardware and software within the University community. Another core function of the Department is ICT training for both staff and the general public. Furthermore, the Department render support services to other Schools, Directorates, Units and Study Centres as desired.

This department comprises of five units namely: Training Unit, Installation & Maintenances Unit, Software Development Unit, ID Card Production Unit and Other IT Support Services.

Training Unit: It is the policy of the University to ensure that her employees are computer literate. So this unit is charged with the responsibilities of providing IT training for both staff and the general public.

Installation & Maintenance Unit: The unit takes care of not only the installation of software and hardware systems in the University; but also, handle the routine maintenance and trouble-shooting of system units.

ID Card Production Unit: The issue of identification is a pivotal task in any organisation because of security implication of such function. The unit is responsible for keeping track of a comprehensive database of staff and student for ID Card issuance purpose.

Software Development Unit: This unit is responsible for in-house application development for specific needs in the University.

Other IT Support Services Unit: This unit is involved in a number of IT support services to Schools, Directorates, Units and Study Centres with the University community. This services includes: Visitor Information Call Centre, Video Conferencing, e-Learning and knowledge management or Learning Content Management.
