CCE & WT WORK PLAN

THE TRAINING CONTEXT

While CCE & WT may be limited with respect to the provision of education to people at the Certificate and Diploma levels, the Centre is extremely helpful in providing training and retraining, long term and short-time courses, refresher courses, seminars, workshops, etc., to institutions and corporate organizations, companies, banks, industries, to all those already employed in the country's various workplaces. For a sane (effective and efficient) workforce in the country, the skill sets necessary to more responsible and responsive workers must be created. This requires at a minimum the development of necessary life skills and work ethics, besides the relevant and necessary professional skills. Hitherto unattained, gained or forgotten, for which CCE & WT with its ODL approaches. can be helpful.

The Centre approaches all the inherent issues with the flexibility necessary to reach all including those already employed, who require training while still in their workplaces.

To this end, CCE &WT has designed workshops, short-time courses, conferences, seminars, etc. covering a wide variety of areas
. THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR CONTEXT

With the UBE in place, Nigeria is beginning to succeed in providing increased opportunities for primary education. This is in line with the global call for "Education for All" for all citizens to have access to basic education. But this success will add up pressures further up the ladder. More and more Nigerians will need education at both primary and secondary levels, and pressures will become enormous both for more trained teachers and for alternative approaches to curriculum delivery methods. Apart from in-service courses and work- shops/conferences for teachers, CCE & WT can be helpful in supporting the development of digital networks connecting communities of teachers, teacher trainers and private-school proprietors' educational delivery.
